My inspiration for my third sketch was from an Audrey Assad song, Restless. It’s an illustration of my heart at the moment and I couldn’t have been more on-point with this sketch. Here’s a sneak peek:
I’m realizing how therapeutic this is each week. If I’m feeling something I can simply sketch it out. And I love it.
3 down, 49 to go.
It has begun! In Brown Bag Sandwich Co. enjoying a Denali Single Engine Red I can say that week 1 sketch is done and I feel accomplished. I felt like this piece was very transitional…I wasn’t sure what style it was going to inhabit until I finished, and it changed a few times before I completed it. Part of me wanted to keep going with it, but then I told myself not to kill it, and to realize when to stop. One down, 51 to go ;) Here’s the sneak peek!
Many times I get random ideas in my head that are either never started, or – this is the worst – never finished. So I got an idea for a project a few months ago. AND THIS ONE WILL BE DIFFERENT THAN THE REST. For real, though. And the reason I am confident is because I have set a realistic goal, and this idea has been on my mind for quite a while now, and I only get more excited about it every time I think about it.
I guess I should tell you what I’m talking about.
52 sketches, 1 year, 0 excuses. Once a week every week for the next year I will illustrate one blank page in my (as of now) empty sketchbook using only pen, and pencil if needed. Through this project I aim to accomplish 3 goals:
- See my idea come to completion
- Achieve a broader creativity
- Refine my skills on paper
At the end, I aim to have a show that showcases this project. I’m super excited to get started!
Oh! And one more thing – I am not allowed to reveal any sketches until the end. Although, sneak peeks are acceptable ;)
With my micron in hand and my moleskin in front of my face, I hereby begin my 52 sketches, for 1 year, 0 excuses! #52sketches
That should be #trending. Because this happens often!
I was browsing the inter webs when I came upon this beautiful video.
While I drooled at Jake Weidmann’s penmanship (he is 1 of 11 Master Penmans in the world) I hung on his words even more.
I believe we bear the image if God…in our desire to create. I believe that the things that God impresses upon us and the things that we find we are passionate about he was first passionate about. So I see this passion in me is the most intimate way that I know God.
I was blown away. This statement is so perfect and spot on. My passion that was put inside me from THE creator of the universe is how I experience God most intimately. I can’t say much more. It’s a beautiful thing.
Nick and I love doing DIY and home projects together. Since it’s summer, we decided to get some flowers for our entryway. They are really soaking in the sun and I’m loving the fresh color! I am loving summer.
We also recently make a light for our bedroom. With some copper pipes, a vintage lightbulb, and some tools, we made a rustic, vintage light. Much cheaper than buying a similar one and more personable, I think! It also goes well with our shelf we put up a few weeks ago. Now we just need a splash of color in there! :)
We got us a big leather chair from a garage sale and an antique coffee table came with it for free. It was a classy shape, but a little dated. So we decided to paint it for some more color in the living room. It goes great , and it was free–can’t beat that!
